Activities

Personalised adventures guided by expert trackers, experienced researchers or conservation professionals. By foot, on horseback or in a classic Old-Timer

Classic Game drive

“Kuzikus ventures into the bush are as diverse as nature”

We will cover a variety of vegetation types where you will find the typical inhabitants of each terrain.

No matter if you are aiming for the perfect picture or just want to enjoy watching wild animals in their natural habitat, we offer guided private and group game drives (max. 6 guests).

Thereby, we will adjust to individual interests and combine the drive with interesting facts and information about the animal kingdom.

Sundowner drive

Venture in a classic Old-timer direction sunset.

Like on the classic game drive, you will encounter African wildlife in abundance but then stop in middle of no-where to enjoy a classic Gin Tonic sundowner, before driving back to the lodge under the night sky lit up by the milky way.

Safari trail riding

“The most immersing and honest way to connect with Nature. The ancient spirit of Safari is vividly revived once surrounded by open plains, herds of wildlife, trotting your horse into the Sunset”

We offer riding for everyone fit enough to mount a horse. However, every rider will be asked to participate in an introduction round in the morning to give your horse and your guide a chance to get to know you and your riding level. Advanced riders can participate in various afternoon safari trail rides, while beginners will be kept to shorter rides in the vicinity of the lodge. We highly recommend to fill out the riding enquiry form to get the most of your riding experience on Kuzikus. Nichola will be I touch with you.

Rhino tracking

“Follow a rhino´s trail and you will meet up, feeling as if united with a lifelong friend”

In Namibia, if lucky, Black Rhinos can be experienced in Etosha National park from the safety of the car or photographed at illuminated waterholes at night. White rhinos can also often be seen from close distance at known sites in private Reserves.

The Black Rhino Tracking on Kuzikus offers an exciting alternative.

With the experienced Biologists Berend or Friedrich and expert Tracker Gouse we set off in an open Land Rover before sunrise on a search for fresh rhino tracks. Once spotted, we follow the fresh trail on foot until we catch up with the rhino. Depending on the occasion and as soon as the conditions are right (wind, cover, etc.), the animal is stalked to allow for a detailed observation.

Rhino tracking on Kuzikus is part of the conservation protocol and thus offers you the opportunity to experience these animals in a holistic context while supporting the monitoring of these rare animals.

Important would be covered clothing, good footwear and binoculars.

Botany excursion

“The secret life of plants uncovered”

Find out which plants play a crucial part in the Kalahari ecosystem providing food and shelter to our wildlife.

Not only animals, but also native people have profited from the desert flora, adding a special cultural value to certain species.

Accompanied by an expert botanist, you will discover from small grasses to tall camelthorn acacias and unravel the secrets of these desert adapted species and how they survive in the harsh environment.

Birding excursion

“Stop, observe, ponder, adore”

Ever wondered how many eggs can be found in an ostrich nest?

During the dry season, a wide variety of bird species come to the waterholes.

During the rainy season, many migrating birds will visit the grass plains.

Join us with your binoculars and watch the sandgrouse absorb water with their belly feathers or find a pelican in the middle of the Kalahari Desert.

Track, trails & scorpions with a native Khwe-tracker

“Out of the ordinary – especially for Kids”

Since the early stages of Kuzikus Wildlife Reserve, we have been working alongside native people, like the Nama and the Khwe Bushman.

We want to help them keep their traditional values and knowledge alive and are very proud and fortunate to have them share with us their secrets about the bush.

Follow the steps of a native Khwe in an exceptional excursion and discover tracks and signs of animals you will not see on a conventional safari.

Kalahari night drive

Spot the stars of the bushveld

Staring with a sundowner, we take advantage of the time just after sunset. From Aardvark, Aardwolf, African Wildcat and Genet to Bat-eared Fox, Skunk, Springhare and nightjar, there are quite some top-listed wildlife species to be discovered.

Glamping adventure

“Lost in complete tranquillity in endless stars”

Spending an afternoon and a night in little bushcamp set up with rustic comfort just for the two of you will ignite your spirit for african wilderness.

Extra tour for the specialist

“you name it!”

As a small family run Reserve we are happy to cater for specific endeavours to find even the most elusive of creatures with you.

The natural hide

Blend in at the waterhole

Hidden by the shade of a fallen tree, you will sit next to huge tree truck experiencing how the different wildlife species react to your presence in many very different and surprising ways.

Bush pilot day trip

Sossusvlei is just around the corner

The airstrip on Kuzkus allows for 210 Cessna to land and pick you up for an one-day air trip including Lunch at one of Namibias highlight tourist destinations.
